A Day in the Life of a Commercial Service Manager

As a Commercial Service Manager, you will lead a group of plumbing and HVAC technicians through the constantly evolving service sector.  You will train technicians and hold technicians accountable to Ashton's process through training sessions, one on one meetings, and ride alongs.  In addition, you will recruit, hire, train and improve the field technicians.  As our Commercial Service Manager, you will be responsible for technicians hitting their performance targets and KPI's.  You will monitor customer feedback and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction is achieved.  Identifying opportunities for personal growth and development, recognition of talent with a continuous learning environment while making sure profitability and targets of the contracts and projects are controlled, understood, maintained and maximized.  Our Commercial Service Manager will lead by example by living our core values and having a passion for the job that is infectious.  You will support a strategy to evolve the business by analyzing customer needs and opportunities through data analysis and continuous improvement and continuously monitor and improve company processes and procedures.  In addition, our Commercial Service Manager works closely with the commercial dispatch team to ensure the right tech is on the right job, and that our call volume for the day is in alignment with our capacity.          

What you Need to be Qualified for the Commercial Service Manager Position

In order to be qualified for the Commercial Service Manager position, a minimum of 3 years' of management experience in a service or franchise model business is required.  The individual who will succeed in this role is someone with restaurant or hospitality management experience, franchise management experience, or have held a management position for a process driven company.  Industry-specific knowledge is an asset, not required.  The ideal candidate has lead and is comfortable holding large training sessions (training education courses are an asset) and has a track record of initiating, developing and operating a culture of continuous improvement through KPI's and leading indicators.  We are looking for an individual who has been accountable for creating budgets and achieving targets.  Postsecondary business courses are an asset but not required.
